Deputy Health Minister Is A Common Thief

News24, Naspers's news website, reports via City Press that the deputy health minister, Nozizwe Madlala-Routledge, took a "consultant" in her office along with her son on a trip to Spain, allegedly without obtaining presidential approval, at a cost of R160 000 to the taxpayer.

Ministers and deputy ministers need the president's approval to travel outside the country.

The three flew business class, stayed at a luxury hotel and were allocated generous spending money while abroad.

An anonymous whistleblower has written a letter to President Thabo Mbeki to draw his attention to the unauthorised Madrid trip.

Don't hold your breath that anything will be done to discipline, let alone charge with theft, this shameless individual. Not only was she on a free holiday with her friend and family member, but she left a hospital system busy dying back in South Africa.

TIP FOR JOURNALIST WHO WROTE THE ARTICLE: At least ask the department and Mbeki what is going to be done about this, even though a predictable deathly hush will result. At least go on record as having asked. Don't be like Miranda Strydom, that sycophantic girlfriend of Thabo Mbeki who fancies herself a journalist. NOT!
